Designing for the Future: How We Revamped CAYZN’s Design System

At Wiremind, we believe that a great product is one you love to use. That principle has long been a strength of CAYZN, our flagship revenue management solution. But as the product evolved over the last 10 years, we started an internal discussion to refresh the interface. What started as a discussion turned into a full project to revamp CAYZN’s design system; a key pillar in delivering intuitive, user-focused solution.

We sat down with Andrés Céspedes, Product Owner of CAYZN, to discuss the story behind CAYZN’s UX redesign—how it started, who made it happen, and why it matters.

Why Change a Winning Formula?

This design refresh wasn’t about starting over, it was about taking something strong and giving it an enhanced, unified look and feel. The goal? To harmonize the experience across modules, standardize how components behave, and increase customization so that every interaction feels more fluid and intuitive.

“We wanted to bring a fresh visual touch to CAYZN,” said Andrés. “The idea was to streamline the experience but not reinvent it; and to make sure everything reflects the thoughtful, user-focused values we care about.”

How We Worked: Research, Design, and Iteration

The project began with research and a crash course in design systems. Andrés partnered closely with Doriane, CAYZN’s UX/UI Designer, to understand the boundaries and possibilities of modern UI.

“It wasn’t just about making things pretty. We had to retain CAYZN’s essence—keep what made it familiar, while making it better.”

They developed personas, ran countless design iterations in Figma, and constantly reviewed with engineering to check feasibility. Each module from the business rule engine to the revenue management tool went through meticulous review.

“Some ideas looked great on paper, but were not technically feasible. We had to find the right balance every time.”

From Idea to Action: The Kickoff

While ideas had been brewing since a while now, the official kickoff came in early 2024. The first ticket was created, a moment that marked the CAYZN UX redesign from brainstorming to building.

The Team Behind the Redesign

This was a truly cross-functional effort:

“At Wiremind, we work with a ticket-based system. You can brainstorm all day, but a ticket is like a recipe. It tells our devs exactly what to make and how,” Andrés said. “Once that first ticket was written, the project was real.”

“It is a great initiative to rethink entirely the design logic and system of such a complex software. I am honoured to be able to become a part of the project. There has been a few challenges on both technical and UI/UX design, but we’ve worked together and overcame them. It is very exciting to present to our users a beautiful new design of which we are all deeply proud.” says Feibiao Wu, Software Engineer of CAYZN.

User-Centric to the Core

One of the most important steps came mid-year: sharing the new CAYZN design system with users.

The first preview happened during a customer user group in July 2024. “We didn’t want to show them just an idea. We waited until we had real progress screenshots, working prototypes.”

Clients gave feedback, some of it detailed and specific. “I remember one of the clients even made a full list of what they liked and what they didn’t. That kind of engagement is rare and super valuable.”

Later, the team rolled out parts of the redesign on staging environments, letting clients test it themselves. That iterative, co-creative approach is a strong Wiremind philosophy.

“Proud to have taken part in the creation of CAYZN’s new Design System. It’s been an exciting challenge to design something both scalable and user-centric. I truly hope our users will enjoy the new experience!” - Doriane Chrétien, Senior UI/UX Designer of CAYZN

Design is Subjective And That’s the Challenge

Revamping a product that’s been loved for 10+ years isn’t easy.

“The hardest part? It’s subjective. What looks clean to me might look unfamiliar or off to someone else. We had to change things without changing everything. Keep the soul, improve the form.”

Consistency was key. Simple things like the position of an ‘Apply’ button had to be standardized to make the interface intuitive.

Benefits of the New Design System

The revamped CAYZN design system delivers practical value that will be felt across teams and customers alike.

For Users: A Better Experience, Every Day

  • Consistency across modules means less friction and faster onboarding, especially for users who interact with multiple parts of CAYZN.
  • Clearer visual hierarchy and intuitive behavior make actions easier to understand and execute.
  • With user feedback baked in, the redesign speaks directly to real needs.

For the Wiremind Team: Faster, Smarter Development

  • The new system provides modular components that can be reused, updated, and scaled across new features and modules.
  • Clear design rules reduce back-and-forth between product, design, and engineering -saving time and avoiding misalignment.
  • New hires or external collaborators can ramp up faster with a shared visual language and systemized patterns.
“The Product and Tech teams have worked tirelessly to deliver CAYZN’s brand-new design system, bringing a fresh and modern experience to our users. While the look has evolved, we’ve stayed true to the DNA that makes CAYZN so intuitive, especially within the RM module. We hope you’re as excited to use it as we were to build it. A special shoutout to Marine for her outstanding leadership throughout the project!”  says Sylvain Ung, Senior Software Engineer of CAYZN.

Wiremind’s Approach to Innovation

For Andrés, the project was also a reflection of Wiremind’s broader culture.

“Innovation is part of our DNA. We’re always trying to push what’s possible. But we also do it in a very structured, transparent way.”

What Comes Next

“With this redesign, we now have templates, rules, and patterns. New features will build on this framework. My role as a Product Owner now focuses on the what and why; not the pixel-level how.” Consistency, scalability, and speed - that’s the vision for CAYZN’s Design System moving forward.

The CAYZN redesign is about intention, collaboration, and building a stronger foundation for the future. It’s a reminder that great design doesn’t come from isolated inspiration, it comes from listening, iterating, and working together.

And most of all, it comes from understanding the people who use our product every day.
