At Wiremind, we've built a platform focused on autonomy, resilience, and operational excellence. Our approach combines modern DevOps practices with a philosophy of control and performance. Our Platform team maintains full control over our infrastructure stack by using long-term rented bare-metal servers. This provides the performance and predictability of dedicated hardware without the abstractions of public cloud platforms.
Wiremind delivers SaaS products with all operational aspects managed in-house.
Our DevOps approach ensures quality and scalability. Instead of separate operations teams, we have autonomous "Tech Teams" following the "you build it, you own it" philosophy.
Our Platform team develops an Internal Developer Platform that enables teams to:
- Create consistent patterns for common tasks
- Access infrastructure as ready-to-use components
- Implement best practices through policy-as-code
The Platform team maintains infrastructure while promoting DevOps practices and "shifting security left." We've built an internal engineering team that leverages open source tools instead of outsourcing operations.
Unlike most companies that outsource component management, our technical choices demonstrate our commitment to independence, autonomy, vertical knowledge, performance, and maintainability:
- Kubernetes, serving as our orchestration platform, providing autonomy and maintainability for our teams
- Self-managed databases and components, using tools for performance, reliability, and high availability
- Services hosted within Kubernetes, preventing vendor lock-in
By controlling our infrastructure from top to bottom, we can optimize performance for specific workloads, implement security measures, and ensure that our platform evolves with our business needs.
While Wiremind maintains a vendor-independent approach, we benefit from our relationship with our main cloud provider OVHCloud. This partnership ensures support, communication channels, and feedback regarding new products at OVHCloud.
Our long-term rented bare-metal machines provide several advantages:
- Higher container density (up to 1,000 containers per machine, and growing every year)
- Cost efficiency and simplified operations through elimination of virtualization layers
- Component-level redundancy and native backups for better granularity and performance
This approach combines the reliability of dedicated hardware with the flexibility typically associated with cloud infrastructure.
Sustainability is part of our infrastructure strategy:
- Lower carbon footprint through OVHCloud's eco-friendly data centers with water cooling systems and extended hardware lifecycles
- Resource optimization via bare-metal infrastructure, eliminating virtualization overhead and maximizing computing efficiency with fewer high-capacity servers
Security is a central pillar of our platform philosophy:
- Integration with our security team provides infrastructure hardening while standardizing practices across teams
- We practice "DevSecOps" by integrating security throughout the development lifecycle and automating security checks, vulnerability scanning, and compliance monitoring
